Color Me Badd
One of the top R&B vocal groups of all time, Color Me Badd has sold 12 million records in the United States. The group’s debut album, C.M.B sold over 6 million copies worldwide and became certified Triple platinum in the United States. They have 3 number 1 singles and 17 top 20 singles.
The Sugar Hill Gang
The Sugarhill Gang’s first rap hit was “Rapper’s Delight.” The gang is believed by many to be the first professional Hip Hop group, because they introduced to the masses (both in the U.S and internationally) an unprecedented genre of music. “Rapper’s Delight” went on to sell over 8 million copies, and became the biggest selling rap single of all time.
Young MC
Young MC made his debut on the single “I Let ‘Em Know.” In 1989, after a couple of collaborations, Young stepped out on his own with the Top Ten smash “Bust a Move,” inspired by romantic successes and failures. The song won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance, and its strong pop appeal helped the next album, Stone Cold Rhymin’, go platinum.
