ABOUT AVERAGE WHITE BAND
The Scottish group, Average White Band is known to be one of the best soul and funk bands in the history of music. Best known for their classic mega-hit “Pick Up the Pieces,” the band's strength lies in their remarkable song-writing, fetching them multi-grammy nominations and gold selling albums. The band's breakthrough was in 1973 during their opening act performance at Eric Clapton's comeback concert. The members of AWG have been strongly influenced by their R&B heroes like Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Donny Hathaway and others - and developed their own 'authentic' music which went on to influence many other musicians in the US and elsewhere.
