ABOUT CHARLEY PRIDE

One of the most well known country singers of all time, Charley Pride has had a unique journey to the top of the music charts. Pride is one of three African-Americans to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Since his early days, Charley was drawn to the bluesy rhythms and the country style, eventually teaching himself to play the guitar by mimicking the artists he listened to regularly. In 1971, Pride released what would become his biggest hit, "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin," a million-selling crossover single that helped him land the Country Music Association's prestigious Entertainer of the Year award, as well as Top Male Vocalist. In 1972, he won CMA's Top Male Vocalist award once again. As an international superstar, Charley has performed all over the world and continues to tour regularly in the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and Ireland.
