American vocal group, The Platters is one of the first African-American groups to be accepted as a major chart group and are one of the most successful vocal groups in the world. Formed in Los Angeles in 1952, the group had 40 charting singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart between 1955 and 1967, including four number-one hits. Some of their most popular hits include "Only You" "The Great Pretender", "I'm Sorry" and "Enchanted," Referred to as one of the most successful vocal groups of the early rock and roll era, the Platters were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. They continue to evolve and entertain music fans of all ages worldwide, in addition to continuing to tour the world.
